On March 3, 2020, the management met with representatives of the Russian online retailer WILDBERRIES at the Uztextilprom Association.
Wildberries Company (www.wildberries.ru) is the largest online retailer in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (hereinafter-the EAEU) and one of the leading IT companies in Russia. The turnover of Wildberries in 2019 amounted to 223.5 billion rubles, and the number of employees exceeded 32,000. The company successfully cooperates with 19,000 suppliers, of which more than 12,000 are small and medium-sized businesses.
56 Uzbek manufacturers are already selling their products through the Wildberries portal, whose total sales volume at the end of 2019 amounted to 4.6 billion rubles (+31 % by 2018).
During the meeting, the Association «Uztextilprom» presented information about the achievements of the textile industry, manufactured products, investment and export potential of the country.
Representatives of» WILDBERRIES «acquainted the representatives of the Association with the current business model of «WILDBERRIES», with the specifics of online commerce, and also expressed increased interest in entering the e-commerce market of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In this regard, first of all, the parties discussed possible cooperation in the field of providing manufacturers of textile and clothing and knitwear industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the opportunity to carry out export Internet sales of their products, as well as increasing the volume of the local Internet trade market.
WILDBERRIES considers the Uzbek market to be very promising and expressed their readiness to study the issue of entering the market with investing their funds in the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
One of the main advantages of mutually beneficial cooperation for both sides, according to representatives of WILDBERRIES, working on the Win2Win principle, is the creation of opportunities to expand their business and enter foreign markets (for reference: WILDBERRIES is represented on the Russian, Belarusian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Armenian, Polish markets) for local representatives of small and medium-sized businesses.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the entry of WILDBERRIES into the Uzbek market on a step-by-step basis, to create a contact group on both sides for the purpose of productive further cooperation.
